Bay Cliff Health Camp’s

ACA Adaptive Paddling Workshop

Offered since 1998, we partner with Bay Cliff and staff this workshop popular with program managers, instructors, recreational paddlers and people with disabilities.

This ACA workshop has been taught across the country since 1990. The course brings together certified instructors, recreational paddlers, and people with physical disabilities with the goal of further promoting canoeing and kayaking for paddlers with disabilities.

Rutabaga’s ACA L1-2 Instructor Workshops

Sam has been working with Rutabaga since 2003 in running instructor workshops as well as staff training

Levels 1-2 offers training and certification for working with students in a protected setting for all types of kayaks. This workshop focuses on sea kayaks.

Offered in Door County since 2010, these workshops are popular with regional outfitters and paddling clubs

Levels 1-3 offers training and certification for working with students in a coastal setting with winds to 10 knots and waves to 1’.

Big Bay ACA L1-4 Instructor Workshops

Offered since 1999, these workshops are popular with regional outfitters & retailers as well as club paddlers

The process to become an American Canoe Association certified Coastal Kayaking Instructor from Level 1 to 4. There are two components in this process: the Instructor Development Workshop (IDW - a three day event; the training) and the Instructor Certification Evaluation (ICE - a three day event; the testing). Participation in each workshop is necessary to complete the ACA Coastal Sea Kayak Instructor certification.

ACA L5 Instructor Workshop

Conditions in the Marquette area in the fall are often within the requirements for Level 5

Level 5 is the highest level instructor workshop offered for coastal kayaking. Instructor Candidates are expected to already have their L4 certification and be ready to take the exam as there is no IDW for this level and it is expected that candidates may have to take the workshop a couple of times before passing.
